Blog #1: How to move the ball

Learn how to dribble the ball and how to practice dribbling the ball

“I have many years to get better and better, and that has to be my ambition. The day you think there is no improvements to be made is a sad one for any player.”

— Lionel Messi

So, the first step is the get practice at dribbling the ball regularly. “Why can’t I just start doing tricks at the beginning, like the rainbow?” It’s because “all journeys start from begin from a single step”.

Anyway, one way to practice is with some cones, or do the the bell drill. With the cones, you can just dribble from one end to the other, like you usually picture dribbling. But, you can’t kick the ball too far. If you do, there’s a likely chance of an opponent intercepting the ball. There is a trick that you can do, if you kick if past the opponent on purpose, but that’s for later.

The bell drill is where you kick the ball gently between you feet. Seems easy, right? The catch is you can’t move from your initial position. Mark your initial position and only focus on the ball getting slightly tapped between your feet. Still seems easy? Try it out!

Until my next blog, remember to improve and make room in your brain for the quote near the top of the page. See ya!

Here’s a little about ME

So, a little stuff about me….I LOVE soccer! Like, if I see a soccer ball that I left around lying in my yard, I just go up to it and just practice some of my *cough *cough “cool” tricks. Which are usually just some jukes that I do to confuse the opponent. Sometimes, I try to do the rainbow, but 25% of the time….It just doesn’t work out…
